Default Has the UK backlash started??

I have noticed more and more Chi's for rehoming on pet sites latley. Mostly seem to be from pups up to about 3yrs. I dont know if its the economy or the craze for 'handbag' dogs reslting in people getting them then realiesing they are real dogs that need lots of attention.
Either way its sad to see them being rehomed. Is it the same in other areas of UK too?

I think that some people get a dog on impulse. In US ther are pet shops in malls and people are out for shoes..pop in to a pet shop and leave with a puppy....

Maybe people think if it is small it will be like a hamster..not need as much dog time as a large dog..

it is hard to say...

I've only ever seen one other chi in my town and it was quite old. Asked my vet and he said that daisy is the only one on his books however when i was looking for her there were so many to re home from houses that had 3 chis etc and this one was being left out which really upset me!
I hate to make accusations but a lot of the kids at my daughters school want a chi coz they've seen beverly hills chihuhua and want to treat them like dolls i just hope the parents aren't irresponsible.

Its mostly private rehoming I notice. Im from Kent, same as Daisydoo!!, and there seems to be a high concentration of 'breeders' in my area. I never really see Chi's when Im out and about, can only think of 3 in my area that hardly go out and are so under socialized they are quite aggressive.

*goes off to dream about starting a Chi rescue centre*

I have been searching Cornwall sites for a Chi to rehome and haven't found one yet which is a good thing but I'd desperately love to give an unloved unwanted little one a forever loving home.
