Question Socialising Pixie.

Hi All.

I need any suggestions and help with Pixie. She is soooo nervous of everything. I mean everything! I dont feel she is a typical 9 week old pup. I have read the 7 rule, but wondered if anyone could add anything further.

I have been involving her in lots of everyday things, i have taken her out when i walk billy and vern (in my lil doggy bag). When I put the hoover round this morning, she climbed up the bars in her crate to get away from it, bless her.

She has yet to come any further than the kitchen on her own. She does play and things like that, she is interested in whats going on around her just not really into things like Billy was.

Has anyone else ever delt with this kind of thing?

Oh also she dosent curl up on your knee like billy does, she would rather lay next to you. I just dont think she has had to deal with much yet, but i would reallu love for her to grow up into a well rounded lil girl if you know what i mean.

The breeder kept the pups in a pen in her lounge, I'm wondering if thats where they were left all the time.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone xx

Maybe she wasnt socialised properly as a puppy. Im sorry i cant really help my puppies are always condifent little cheeky buggers lol. Erm maybe just leaving her to roam with Billy & Vernon whilst supervised of course then she'll learn she can do pretty much what she likes and doesnt need to be worried about anything? Hope this helps - if it does :S lolx

I would just carry on taking her loads if places and when you can, to ring craft and maybe puppy classes

Just take her to (unpopulated dog areas) and get her used to sites and sounds. Make sure you reward her and give her lots of praise when she ventures out or does something that she wouldnt normally do. She is still very young so be patient with her although do not coddle her and make sure you are not nervous as she can feed off of that

Default shy girl

I hate to say, but it really could be her personality. The Chi I first brought home (last year) Kip, was terribly shy. Partly personality, partly lack of socialization... When I saw him last, he was coming out of his shell as long as he was with other dogs. Jerry is fairly outgoing, as long as he is standing near me or Tabitha Tabitha, on the other hand, will seek out new people, new territory, new anything. With love and a whole lot of patience, you can probably bring Pixie out more but, just like people, she will generally stay true to her nature.
