you should try giving him a treat when ever he goes potty where you want him to - he will soon figure out that if he goes there to potty he will get a treat - worked for all my dogs

The first thing I would do in the morning at 6:45 would be to take him out to pee and then feed afterwards. If he's held it from 9:30 the night before his little bladder will be full and he will need to go before eating. You might have to get up once in the middle of the night to let him out as well, maybe around 1-2am.

Sounds okay but going out to pee every 30 minutes sounds a little excessive to me. I would take him out every couple of hours or just after waking up, just after an intense play or chew session or after eating a meal.

Don't let him out of your sight. He should either be under your eye so you can see if he starts to sniff around suspiciously or confined where he won't pee (like a crate).

Good luck!! Be consistant and be sure to put that rolled up newspaper to good use. Every time you allow an accident by not watching your puppy roll it up and pop yourself over the head saying "you will watch the puppy better!"

Yes always take them out first thing in the morning. Bring in and feed and then take back out after they eat. Don't talk to him at all while outside except for this, while he is going say potty potty potty over and over, that way he associates what he is doing with the word so eventually all you will need to do is say potty and he will go. AS SOON as he is done pooing or peeing give tons of praise, you have to do it right after so he understands what the praise is for. Always take out after he has been in the crate, as soon as he wakes up from a nap, and very shortly after he eats.

Well he doesn't hold it all night.. he couldn't. he's only 8 weeks .. He's in a 3' x 3' kennel during the night or when he's up while i'm at school and has pee pads in there... Then right now he's got a 5' x 3' kennel set up in the living room with all his toys so that he can be in ehre with us and playing but not be roaming around free if we're not actively playing with him...

We don't let him out from our site, but he's so tiny I kind of have an issue at times realizing if he's laying down or peeing but i'm trying to get more proactive about it as we've had wayyy to many accidents.

I should add we are NOT training him to go outside... Simply on the pee pads, and we plan to keep him on pee pads for his life...

I got lucky with my girl Mango. She knew where to go from the start. I also use a training spray. It has the scent of grass so I would spray it on her puppy pad.
I also put my girls on a feeding schedule. I don’t free feed them. That way I know when they’re going to poop. So maybe 30 min after every meal I put them around the puppy pad and encourage them to “go potty”. In the morning when we wake up, before I let them out I put them around the puppy pad so they can go potty there. I also say “Go Potty” so they know what it means. Peeing will vary because they drink water through out the day.
I have a puppy pad in my bedroom because they sleep with us, and a puppy pad in our living room because they spend most of their day there.
I also noticed that if the puppy pad is too saturated because they pee A LOT they will not go there and go somewhere else, so I always keep it dry and clean.

I've heard of sprays that you can use to keep them from peeing/pooping at certain areas. I basically use vinegar mixed with water in a spray bottle to clean areas where they've had accidents and usually they don't go to the same spot again. So I'm not sure if they helps...
