Question Getting Rabies Vaccine

Hi Fello Chi. Lovers ((pmum waving, Petey wagging tail...))
My Sir Pete is a little over two years now and I am seriously
thinking of getting him his Rabies vaccine. I'm a little worried
about it, as I've heard alot of negs. on it. Thou at the same
time, I want to protect his health.

Well, anyway,,, back to my point LOL...
Have your Chi's. done well getting there rabies vaccine???
Anything I need to be concerned about, ask vet about, etc...????
I thought it best to wait till he was a little older, so I accomplished
that.
PLEASE HELP, worried Mumma here.
Thank you, Blessings.

When Rico got his, he developed a lump the size of a quarter that took 6 months to go away! He felt fine, but I was concerned the whole time. The vet said if it didn't go away, he would have to remove it. I'm just glad it finally went away.

I don't give my chi the rabies shot because I believe the shot is more of a risk to her health than getting rabies. She's never around other animals, especially any that may have rabies to be able to contract the disease. She's never left alone except for in the house when I go to the store. If you're determined to get your chi vaccinated, I'm glad you waited til he's older. You just need to keep a close eye on him for the first day so I would do it 1st thing in the morning. Maybe someone can tell you the correct dose the vet should give your chi.

The same thing happened to Oakley only her lump was smaller. It really irritate me! Not sure if I will ever have her get another one or not, but I definitely will be titer testing for immunity levels first.

Reese had no problems at all with his, and he got it at 4 months. Miley has a little lump on her injection site which should go away within a few months and doesnt bother her, Leo will get his in 4 weeks when he goes in for his last round of shots. To me, the risks associated with getting the vaccine are relatively low, and I think the only reason their risk of getting rabies is low in the first place is because most dogs get the vaccine, thus making it less common- but I respect that its a personal choice and commend you for doing your homework! Goodness knows these chis bring out the worry wart in all of us!
Reese, Leo and Miley wave a paw hello back to Petey

Its not even required in the state of Ohio
so Ive never gotten it for Dahlia.Wild animals
and bats are not a threat to her.Her feet have never
touched the yard out back.Too many big stray dogs
(Pitts N Rotts) and a huge amount of rabbits here (tapeworm).
My vet wasnt happy as they push shots like drugs.
