Default Pet insurance

Do you have pet insurance? I am thinking about getting it for Chloe. If you have it can you share with me your experience? What are some of the "problems" chi's run into? I am trying to see if the common issues would even be covered. the two companies I have been comparing are VIP and ASPCA.

I don't have pet insurance. Although from what I've been told it is good to get it early on as it doesn't cover "existing conditions". But I hear it is great to have and saves tons of money.

Hi,

I have trupanion pet insurance and I wish I had got it when I first got my girls because Kira was diagnosed with a liver disease and the cost to get that diagnosis was a little over $2000.00 and now she won't be covered for anything related to this disease.

I thought I'd have several years before they had any real problems and I could save up but I now think the cost of the insurance even if they don't need it is worth the piece of mind.

Good luck with your decision.

I have Petplan for both my girls. Same with Lacey's I haven't used it yet. Jan (Chico and Kody's mom) has Petplan and she's used it for Chico's surgeries. Go look for her thread named Chico's surgery journey.

I was so disapointed in my insurance. They refused to pay any of the $3000 bill for emmie's epilepsy diagnosis, because 'it was within the 180 day BEFORE the renewal." Evidently, they don't cover a 'new' disease if it is 6 months before the renewal.? I went all the way to the top, and did a 'complaint' and non of it did any good. I probably will cancel. They did pay for the emergency treatment when Zarita was attacked by the jack russell terriers next door. Neither of the dogs is insurable by any other company. Zarita because of tummy problems (reflux--on Pepcid) and Emmie due to the epilepsy. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions. Of course neither was covered with their patella surgery as that was 'endemic' in Chihuahuas. Sue
