Default Soft spot

Chili is 8 months old this weekend and still has the soft spot on his head. It is about the size of a pea. Will that close up as he ages?

Perhaps or perhaps not.

2 of mine still have theirs and they are almost 2 years old.

I'm not completely sure what is normal. But Chloe's just recently filled in and she is 6.5 months old.

Some Chis have a molera forever. For others, it closes up. Toby is nearly 11 months old and he still has a small one, my moms chi Rocky is 8 months and his is all closed up. Sit just depends on the dog.

All soft spots close however some will close over w/ bone where as others w/ close up w/ cartilage. Its the same w/ humans. My daughter is over two years old and has what is considered a large soft spot the size of a golf ball, but there is cartilage there now so her brain is safe. The same thing w. my dog she has a soft spot but its covered by cartilage it may grow bone but either way unless she takes a direct blow to that exact spot w/ something sharp she will be fine.
