Default Treats/Chews/Bully Sticks and super smelly poos!!HELP!!

This may sound really silly but I need help finding natural chews that don't make my two's poop smell like something out of the depths of hell....

I gave them some rawhide sticks not too long ago (was warned off them so wont be giving them again!!) and it made their previously small, almost odourless ZP made poos become evil and smell sooo foul it was unbearable!!

I may be wishfully thinking here but I wanted to know if I give them bully/pizzle sticks - will their poos remain tight, non-smelly and small?

Would also like to know any other (long lasting) chews that won't intensify their excrements - Looking into cows ears and dried beef gullet??

x

Mine always have one treat or other in their mouth at any given time - they got to a basket & pull out whatever they want. Nothing ever makes my babies beautiful little turds smell, but then I've never given them rawhide.

Lambs ears, cow hooves (they stink to high heaven when they're wet from being chewed) but don't effect dog's breath or poop and would probably be fine in a bigger open area as opposed to right under my nose next to my bed lol. Pizzles are great (although apparently the actual stick itself stinks in some countries? I've seen some over here that look disgustingly gritty, dirty, horrible but others are immaculate (for what they are) and I get those. Pigs ears, tendons - none of them make my little ones smell at either end.

Have you tried nylabones? Mine have nylabones and deer antlers. I also give them baby carrots. We also have a deer shank from ziwipeak.

I have never noticed a difference in Max's poos after the natural treats I have given him (he is on ZP too). Pizzles are great as he doesn't actually eat much of it, I find they last AGES. Other things I have tried him on recently are green tripe and dried pig intestines. He loves them both although they don't last very long and the smell of the green tripe is awful! I have some tendons for him to try too at some point so hoping they are a bit longer lasting..

Forgot to mention that we have tried deer antler and the ziwipeak deer hoof but he never really took to them. Also tried the ziwi peak shank which he did like for a while but once he had eaten the oesophagus that coats it he didn't seem to bother with it any more.

The trick with bully sticks is to not give too much or too often, then the stools
will remain small and practically odorless. Otherwise it'll stink, and they might
even get soft stools. All good things in moderation. My crew get one bully stick
per week, but I don't let them chew the entire thing all in one shot.(little today,
a little more two days later, etc)

Toby takes a very long time to get through one bully stick. They are his prized possessions, the only treats he gets, so he savors them. So I've never had this problem. I'd assume it is for him eating too much at one time. As LS, all good things in moderation!!!

Ahhh moderation.....we may have failed on that one!! They got about 1.5 each in one day but they didn't last at all literally 30 mins and Zeus had eaten his so I'm thinking/hoping the bully sticks last much longer...I really want to give them as a pacifier when they have to be alone so they don't get anxious and chew up and more of my expensive furniture!! (I dont have much but my dining table set cost alot and has had leather chewed off the chairs and table base by two bored pups!!!)

I don't think I'll ever give them rawhide again ever. I'll look into some ears and sticks and see how they go with those.

I was considering a Nylabone but I read they were bad as pieces come off??

I'm not a fan of edible Nylabones, the ingredients are garbage. As for the toy
Nylabones, yes many of the small ones are easily destroyed, you can try
getting the large Nylabones that are meant for big dogs, this is my trick to
them lasting longer. As for bully sticks, I wouldn't leave a dog unsupervised
with them, or any chew for that matter, due to risk of choking. You can leave
a Kong with some pureed chicken inside, or something similar, for while you're
gone. And rawhide is definitely a bad idea, you are right about that, it's pure
garbage, and is easy to choke on, it's evil really, just stay far far away.
