Default How do you find a chi rescue in your area?

Can't seem to find a chi rescue in Central Tx. Looked through the links on here etc. I did find animal rescues, but we are looking for another Chi and thought a Chi rescue would be best. We are not getting one tomorrow, but need to start looking and researching. My friend was supposed to give me her chi who doesn't get any attention, but her twins are not having it. So....we are looking for a rescue 2yr or younger. Lola (our 5mo old chi) needs a friend to play with and our 7yr old doxie doesn't play Can anyone PM me or link me to a chi rescue in Central Tx?

I did not know petfinder was a rescue type search. I assumed it would be linked to breeders etc. I checked it out and found some cuties and rescues. I didn't find specific chihuahua rescues, but I found general rescues who had chihuahuas.

Yes, I googled. I found "in general" rescues with all sorts of dogs, not just a chihuahua rescue (what I was looking for).

A lot of rescues have tons of chihuahuas that need homes, so Petfinder is probably a good bet for you And if you find a rescue that you like, you can check their Facebook page because sometimes they post pictures of adoptable dogs on there before they post them on Petfinder. Good luck!

I'm so glad I mentioned it! That's how I found my Ellie. I searched small dogs on petfinder and went to the shelter she was at. The shelters in my area put pics up of the dogs with descriptions and all. Can't wait to see what you find!

I second petfinder, or going to your local pound. Being central Texas I bet there are a lot of chis, even puppies, at your local shelter. In Las Vegas chis are the second most euthanized breed in the county, but we don't have a specific breed rescue. I work with two general rescues and they both have about half chis, and our city shelter has 10 to 20 chis at any time, don't try to limit yourself to just chi rescues, you will miss a lot of dogs!
