Hi everyone! As some of you may know, I work for an animal shelter (my county's "animal control"). I don't often post on here and I try not to post about work, but I am really desperately seeking help. One of my chi babies came from a hoarding situation along with 20 other chihuahuas. All got adopted, but recently, one little boy came back. The person who adopted him tied him up outside of the shelter and left. He was in rough shape before... Now it's just terrible.
He has micro opthalmia (a genetically small eye) and already had vision loss when he first came to the shelter. But he then developed an ulcer that his adopter did not treat. So his already damaged eye is now much worse. He has heavy dental tartar on his teeth and has patchy hair loss on his legs and flanks. I'm sure he was fed a terrible diet and was not socialized. He is still very weary of people (especially strangers) but he really wants to be a good boy.
He is urgently seeking an adoptive home and I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone could help. We have contacted rescue groups but no one is willing to take him. He is in danger of being euthanized soon if I can't figure something out.
He is located in South Florida but I am very willing to travel to help him get to his forever home. I feel that I owe this poor boy something since he is my Blue Belle's "brother". I love him dearly and refuse to let him die due to some idiot's inability to properly care for him.
