Today is Remember Me Thursday ( Remember Me Thursday - Pet Adoption Awareness Campaign
). It is a day when the animal rescue community is trying to start a movement of people stopping to light a candle and remember the over 3 million dogs that lost their lives in shelters this year in the US and to shine light on the ones still waiting for homes. They are holding a candlelight vigil out side of the poorly run high kill shelter that Kerrigan came from tonight but sadly we couldn't make it. I really wish we could because I spend a lot of time thinking about the 22,000 dogs (about a quarter were chihuahuas, so over 5,000) that were killed there last year. We lit a candle at home-
We also wrote a blog post that is actually a re-post and an edited/re-worded version of a rant I went on here that got stickied about why my dogs should not exist- Dog in the Desert: Why My Dogs Shouldn't Exist
So maybe you could take the time to send some loving energy and prayers to all the homeless chis out there tonight? I really like the sentiment of this movement so I figured I would share.
P.S. -taking that picture I discovered Kerri is scared of candles and Copley has an unhealthy obsession with them. It was an adventure in picture taking to say the least. Also that candle is actually feet away from them, I thank a good camera angle for it even being in the frame!
