Default I'm gonna foster a tramatized Chi

I am getting a 7yo Chi tomorrow that has been through a lot in the last month. Her 80 yo owner died and well meaning person took her home to her 7yo girl. Unfortunately the chi bit the child and animal control needed to quarantine her. She went from her quiet home to the noisy smelly pound. She has been traumatized and now I am going to try to help her.

I have a 2 yo chi and a couple of cats.... pray for me....lol I know that it will not be easy... but due to the fact that she is now fear aggressive (she poops while going ballistic) the local Chi rescue is not an option, I just can't let her suffer for what is not her fault. I borrowed a large lab kennel from a friend to give her a chance to adjust. If any one has had success with a rescue like this one. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Well..Just make her comfomtable.Make the kennel her "safe place" put a blanket or something over it so she can get in it and think she is hid but leave the front open where she can come and go has she wants to.And talk to her nice and calmly and be gentle. You might want to ignore her the first day and just let her settle in put her food and water right out side the kennel so she will have to come out and get it.And you can sit in the floor with her and talk to her quietly. And see if she will come to you.You can put her some blankets and a few toys mabe a stuff animal she can snuggle with in the kennel. So she will be comfy.
I hope this helps and I will say a prayer for you and the chi.

Rescue Remedy is an EXCELLENT idea!!!! The beauty is that a couple of drops in her water is all she needs and I would add it to the rest of the animal water bowls in the house. I also use an ex-pen when I bring a new one in because everyone can sniff and get to know one another with the security of the pen. I just brought in two adult IGs and they are getting lots of time to get used to the pack with the pen in the den. They have water, food, toys and a bed to snuggle in. I can reach over and love on them and everyone gets a chance to adjust.

Bless your heart for taking her in!

Well I just picked her up... The big burley men at the shelter were too afraid of her to give her a rabies shot. So I took her to the vet.

First off I refused to put her in the carrier. I put a leash on her and walked her around. She was great, she is a proud little old woman. She was so happy to be out of there. I took her to the vet and they had no problem giving her a shot. She was scared she pooped all over me and my car seat...lol. She is at home in her kennel in the living room. I am at work and will go home at lunch. I feel really good about this. She seemed to really like my chi... Bella is the one who will have to adjust to sharing me...

Oh Bless you! Our Briscoe had been owned by a 90 yo man that had to go to an assisted living facility and he took Briscoe, then named Tiny, to the pound. The Akron dog pound is a notoriously nasty place with no regard for the animals. Thank God in his mercy, a local rescue got him, we adopted and the rest is history. We've never looked back. Briscoe will bite kids, he came to us that way. But he attached instantly to Phil. We've had him for two years now and just in the last 6 mos or so he's begun coming to sit on my lap and cuddle with me.

It's so amazing when, after so very long, you know they have finally accepted you.

Good luck! and enjoy.
