Default Crazy Dog Walk

Sooo sorry if there is already a thread for this sort of thing I know iv asked before but i really need help with this .....

I find it very difficult to walk to go for a walk with Clio anymore
Here is the thing whenever she goes for a walk and even hears another dog she goes bonkers crazy barking

If she sees another dog she will also bark and growl and pull the lead trying to get over to kill the other dog
I do NOT pick her up because iv been told so many times not to do it but Obviously if the a dog is off a lead and runs over and looks aggressive I have no choice but to grab her ( I know i totally cant understand anyone leaving their dogs run free no matter how obedient because I live in waterford in Ireland and there is no secure area to walk a dog )

I do however if im at my parents leave them run through the field free which is ok in my mind because its one big hill so I can see a great distance away

but anyway if I do have to pick her up her whole body goes crazy growling and shaking her body to try get out of my grap to kill the dog ...

so lately i have started going to a doggie social club but with only the owner because if there is to many dogs i feel it would over whelm her

so its normally just her two chis ....at first she went nuts we put her in a play pen and whenever her chis went over she snapped through the bars at them but after about 30 min she calmed down and we brought them all for a walk together which was great so when we got back she ran arounnd barly noticed them then she kept doing like a dominant scraping on the ground an every so often just gave one of them the look to bak off

the next time i went she was fine walked up to the gate saw her two chis (chico and gucci) and didnt even bark but then saw the two westies that were there and went crazy again
so we put her back in the play pen and she barked and barked after about 45 min we went for a walk with the lot and she was fine with them
so when we came back i left her off the lead in the bigger play area which was fine until one of the westies passed and she would lundge at them snapping they would back away and then she went along her business ......but

problem is I cant do that on a walk ....and she barks and barks and barks and growls long after the dog is gone she just doesnt stop...

so lately i asked my boyfriend to come because he has a more dominant voice and she tents to listen to him at home so

what we did was He held her lead and I held mias lead (mia is my bichion papillon mix) she is very good but because of clio latly she has gotten very nervous around other dogs and people so i actually had started walking them separate because mia is fine by herself she is a confident happy dog who isnint bothered by people or other dogs but when i bring clio she gets nervous of everything

anyway so my partner kevin took clio and i took mia
If clio barked on the walk at another dog he would walk in the opposite direction from me and mia so when she barked he took her away from me because she wants to be with me so i only go so far i dont go out of view so kevin then stops and calls her and asks her to do something like come to him or sit basically anything to get her attention off barking and when she stops and focuses on him he prases her and walks up to me and she runs to me jumping all happy so we carry on with the walk and we did this twice and it seemed to work well she got it quickly because we were walking and saw other dogs at a distance and she didnt bark which was good

but then you have stupid people who see we are trying to do something and they still come over with their dog and shout aww she is lovely over her barking and ask to pet or hold her i mean for f sake obviously its not a good time ....then you have other people who are idiots and who want to watch wa you are doing so they follow you which is so annoying...

problem is kevin works alot so we dont get to do this often which means i then bring her for a separate walk or a walk with mia and she is her normal barking crazy self and its very upsetting people give you all sorts of looks and I mean I am trying but I just feel like nothing works
even the girl at the doggie social club said maybe i need a chihuahua specialist because its crazy

thing is she is not at all people aggressive she loves people and kids but people look at me with their kids like omg that dog is dangerous

ok so i have met dogs out who are not aggressive at all I was walking mia and clio one day and clio went nuts I looked at behind me a rough collie like a lassie was sneaking up behind me and i reckonised him my dads friends dog hes a dote he must have gotten out he is a big baby and wouldnt hurt anyone

lucky I had my bag with me so I had an extra lead ....if I didnt bring him is he would have gotten run over by a car it is a fairly busy road and he actually lives a t a corner house so I had to bring him home

I must have fancied mia he kept smelling her she didnt do anything but clio was not barking she was walking but whenever he looked at her she jumped up and snapped at him so this time she was ok so she knows she should not bark

ahhhh I dunno does anyone know what I could do iv tried giving out to her but nothing works and im getting worried because one person once shouted that dog needs to be put down ...and it freaked the life out of me beccause she wouldnt hurt a fly

really need help Im stressed out and so tired of her crazy barking

Sounds like you are tackling it well and it is working. Be patient and consistent.
It takes a long time for dogs like Clio (and my Mr Chi!) To be able to ignore other dogs especially if you live somewhere rural and dont see dogs on a daily basis.
I try and go into a town or somewhere where there are other dogs at weekends and have eventually got so Mr Chi will focus on me rather than the other dog but I do have to behave like a loony to keep his attention!

I feel your pain. I have a lab who is leash and fence reactive since moving from the country to the city. She's okay (not super excited, but tolerant for the most part) with other dogs at the park and when she can get to them fast enough. But when she knows she can't get to them she gets over excited and flips out barking and jumping and then her brain switches to attack mode to get the excess energy out and she turns on who ever is closest to her (usually Stella, sometimes Max). She has nipped me once b/c she couldn't control herself. I am working on it as best I can, but it has started many a fight at my house (BF is lazy and would rather just get a shock collar to try to "control" her... he doesn't see how that will just make her worse and more reactive by association, he just sees a quick fix so he doesn't have to deal with her barking at the neighbors through the fence anymore *sigh)

It's a long hard road. I wish you the best of luck!
