Default 11 month old still not house-trained.

My 11 month old male chihuahua was trained on pee pads when we got him at 8 weeks. Ever since we got him we have taken him outside to go to the bathroom (while also using pee pads sometimes). When we send him outside he knows that is why he is being sent out, and he will do his thing and come right back. He does what he is supposed to if we catch him in time or are paying 100% attention to him- if not he will go off somewhere and do his business, therefore I guess he is partly trained but the training is not complete or clear to him. We are starting to get frustrated about it, we realize it is not his fault and we are not angry with him we just really don't know what to do.

I dont really know what to say apart from. my jet is basically the same although younger... if the doors open and he can go outside he will... but if i take him somewhere theres a mat theres a 60% chance he will wee on it.. ie a door pat. at night he has puppy pads. In the day he doesnt have a mat down just at night.. im trying to get him to let me know he needs to go outside. he will sometimes go to the door but not all the time...

I would go right back to basics and start again, take him outside regularly and after meals etc and keep him within your sight at all times. Praise praise praise the good and ignore the bad.

I'm having the exact same problem with little rascal! He goes out side when he's suppose to most of the time ( refuses some times tho) but inside he will "go" everywhere and anywhere even tho there is a pad down for him
In two rooms he just runs off somewhere and does his "business" instead. I know that it's somehow my fault and I want him to eventually stop "going" at all in the house. Any suggestions?

I think you or some else recommended this to me in another post and it's what I have started doing. Not that he's too happy about being by my side all day and can't get off to play with koda untill he "goes" and last night I had him out the garden for about half an hour as I knew that he needed to go but was refusing to outside. But now he's not able to run away and hide and have an accident now on day two of this and so far no hidden accidents but a few pee's on his pad
