Default Info on getting rid of one more toxin/poision in your life....

I've found the older I get the more I learn about so many bad products that we think are good for us in our lives. I have always used SECRET solid deoderant & like myself I know many do. I started going to this foot-detox place who was just full of info of better ways to live, what to watch out for, & how to improve different aspects of life. I wasn't sure what to think about this person, until I found out my brother new her & said she's a great, honest & caring person. She told me that most deoderant & antipersperant's 1st ingrediant is Aluminum. Holly cow, I checked my Hubby's & my deoderant & low & behold--she's right!!! Aluminum clogs our pours. I wound up cleaning out my cabinets & throwing 3 new sticks of mine out & 2 of my hubbies. I'm passing this info along so the few of you who take your life serious will stop buying these products from these companies & these companies will try harder to develop better products that aren't so life-threatening. Aluminum is linked to Alzheimers.

Aluminum Health Risks - Real Or Myth?
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that we need to stop funding these business that make these poisonous stuff knowing the consequences. Now I know why deoderant works so well. It blocks the smell from coming out of your body. Our body has sweat glands all over it that helps us when we sweat to get rid of toxins, but if we are blocking these sweat glands with aluminum, guess where the toxins are going?! They're building up in our bodies because the deoderant won't let them escape. No wonder we don't feel 100%.

I'm so glad to see and know there are other people looking into things like this as well!!! Every time I try to tell/talk to someone I know (even worse when it's someone I don't know!) about "deodorant dangers" or "whats REALLY in your toothpaste" and "you don't have to go so far as to buy shampoo and conditioner"... (the list goes on) I get looked at like I'm crazy.

The problem is that many people are set in their ways & are bombarded with so much scary info that they don't know what to do or who to believe so they continue on they way they always have. I know that many who read this might think I'm a loon, but for the few who listen & just try to make one small change for the better in their life--will be all I need. I wish I new how to change or eliminate more toxic things in our lives, but I don't. I do know that men can buy deoderant without aluminum at all the regular stores without a problem, but women don't have that option. In my research, none of my regular stores sell not one womans deoderant without aluminum. I've had to order online & the natural deoderant don't seem that good so I just stopped using any deoderant. As bad as that sounds, the 1st few weeks I couldn't stand myself where my body was able to release the toxins, but I guess it's been several months now & I don't smell anything. If I go out, I use a natural deoderant I ordered online. Addidas has also put out a womans deoderant without aluminum.

It truly is scary what goes into things. Since switching my dogs to raw, my hubby was also diagnosed as being Grain Intolerant & Diabetic, it sure is amazing some of the unneccesary CRAP that goes into some of the foods we eat. We have become more conscious about the products we use too and are starting to switch to more natural alternatives.

I'm so happy to hear that! I think this could be a powerful thread for those who want a better "quality" of life rather than quantity. The trick is implementing as much of the practices as we could. So anyone who knows anything else beneficial will hopefully post here. There is something really wrong with the world today that so many people are getting so sick, so many people & animals are coming down with allergies, etc. My hubby & I are wanting to buy a whole house water filtration system, but like with most people, it's expensive & we can't afford it.

Oh yuck. You know--I'm a weird one who has put so much time & research into dog nutrition & health & am picky about what care I decide to provide for them...I've been finally just recently started to do the same for myself & family. (duh I know!!!) So what is a "list" of no-no's for someone like me who is a little numb about these things? LOL I've always used spray Secret deotorant but couldn't find any at Sams last week so I picked up a 5 pack of Secret solid. ACK... Scary stuff!! Btw, usually you can't smell your own BO. LOL I'd have to wear *something* all the time or be washing my pits every hour. haha One day I forgot deodorant & my 12yo was like "uhm, mum did you put deodorant on this morning?". I'm forever getting after her because she gets pretty stinky. Usually I'm good & will whisper or tell her when nobodys around. Her? Nope...right in front of company! Anyway...I'm interested in learning safer ways to go about things. I'm definitely going to find an alternative to my & my families deodorant though after reading this.

What you do (what I DO) is go to the grocery store, buy a box of Baking Soda, and a big ole soft brush (one you might use for blush) and apply as deodorant! Gotta love that baking soda...

I have known this for awhile and not really cared, but I started having a lot of problems -- clogged hairs, swollen lymph nodes, etc. and chalked it up to the deodorant I was using, after much research, ha. I did find one brand that has no aluminum at all, Tom's Naturals. TBH I don't think it works wonderfully, but its better than nothing. I don't sweat much/am not super active (smacks self on back of hand), so I use this on "desk" or "docile days". I still will use a "real" one if I am concerned about smelling bad, but ugh, I was in so much pain for awhile my body did NOT like it.
