Default Does anyone freeze Ziwipeak

I freeze Fromm can food in separate containers, but I don't get through a whole bag of Ziwipeak, before having to order another one, it is only good for 6 weeks after it is opened. It is not my dogs main meal. So I would like to keep it in the freezer.

I remember someone asking about freezing and it wasn't recommended, but I can't recall why. I'm guilty of using it far past 6 weeks. The smallest bag is pretty big if you're not using it exclusively.

I buy the smallest bag, the 2 lb one, still last long then 6 weeks, I am so afraid to use it past what they suggest. I can't figure out why it can't be frozen.

I imagine they are going to tell you it effects the nutrients somehow- or that they don't test how long it will last frozen so they can't recommend it. Either way I think it will be fine. I keep whatever I am using as "backup" food in the freezer if it is not canned. Feeding raw I use very little and I've kept the small bag of ZP in the freezer before myself- it never really worried me.

I am going to freeze it from now on, to expensive to throw a quater of the bag away, because it is past the 6 week mark. We freeze other raw foods.

I did a search on here and saw that others have frozen it. I think that freezing it would be very similar to using it past the 6 week mark. It's not an expiry date, it's just that the company can't guarantee the freshness past that point and it may not have that same fresh smell that dogs are attracted to. I think it should be fine to freeze it as long as you're fully letting it thaw before feeding.

I keep Amberleah in the refrigerator because the bag last 2 months, and my holistic says it OK still very nutritious.

I have frozen mine. Put it in those vacuum freezer bags so there's no air and I can't imagine they are not good after they are thawed. No way we can use up a 2 pound bag in 6 weeks when I am just feeding it once in awhile.
