Default SC NC GA etc

It looks like y'all are about to get nailed with a snow storm so please make sure y'all are ready! I know Jayda is doing the snow dance so blame her.

Here is a few things I have learned from moving from SC to VA.

No matter how much a southern attempts to drive or walk in the snow we were not made for it. Trust me! My husband still takes my keys and grounds me and I have a 4X4 SUV now

Water bread milk and TP sells out quickly LOL (still do not understand that one) but make sure you have groceries that will last even if you lose power. Even for your pups.

Make sure you have a heat source or something to keep warm if power goes out.

Salt is your best friend. Ice sucks when snow starts to melt and refreezes once again this southern girl can not ice skate!

Make sure you put your windsheild wipers up as it helps clean the windshield off after the snow. Also thanks to the polar vortex I learned windsheild wiper fluid can freeze esp if ice is blocking where it comes out. Oh and NEVER pour warm water on a frozen windsheild LOL Yeah I made that mistake too LOL

My parents still pick on me as I use to sing Let It Snow all the time as Charleston would shut down but in VA they sometimes make us still go to work so now I beg to not be a chicken southerner and either let the roads to be clear or my office to close. Good lucks y'all!

Very good advice. This system is supposed to bring 4-6 inches to the area I am in. That is a lot of snow for us. Plus it is supposed to be very, very cold so it won't melt right away. The ice in the south is quite scary so I hope we don't get too much of that. We also have gas heat and a gas fireplace which helps if we lose power. It will be cold enough to leave fridge food in the garage and frozen food on the screen porch. Weird thing is that it is 62 degrees right now but the artic front is coming down and it will merge with a low off the coast. Puppies first southern snowstorm!!!!

Woohoo so you can be tucked away by the fire. Now I do want to know what pups think of wet cold feet LOL

A friend puts a tarp down before the snow then lifts to tarp for Kate to potty as she refuses to touch the snow LOL

We have an emergency blanket, I might put that down in their outdoor potty area. Hold down the corners with bricks and then just pick it up at potty time.

So crazy that everywhere else is getting snowstorms still and we're getting ready for spring.

Just wanted to add a Canadian tip to those who need to drive in snow and aren't used to it (and probably don't have winter tires). This is probably the number one tip of winter driving! Lightly tap your breaks when stopping. Using your breaks normally on ice is the best way to lose control and start spinning. Also, bring kitty litter to put on the ground to create traction in case your car gets stuck.

Hope everyone stays warm!
