Default What cameras do you use?

I'm curious - are any of you interested in photography, and if so, what camera(s) do you use? Of course, if you just use your mobile phone, that's just as good.

I just bought a Nikon Coolpix S3500 Pink Line Art:

And once I told my friend of mine about this new acquisition, she told me that she's selling her DSLR for next to no money, so I jumped at the chance to get that too - a Canon EOS 1000D.

I've wanted a DSLR for aaaaaaagggeeeeessss. so I'm SUPER excited!

Yes I love photography!! I have a Nikon D80 that I bought a few years ago. I love it, but I'm planning to also get a smaller, more compact DSLR at some point. I don't carry mine with me as much as I should since it's so big... so I miss out on many photo opportunities or end up taking average pictures with my phone instead. lol

Did you take your signature pic with the D80? I prefer Canon (I was brainwashed by a friend and his 350D, lol), but if you took that, it seems like Nikon does pretty well too!

I love Nikon P&S cameras, but for DSLR's, I've always been a strictly Canon fan. If you want a camera that doesn't cost something like 1000 GBP/2000 USD but still takes amazing pictures, I'd definitely suggest the 1000D or 1100D!

Yeah that was taken with the D80, though I would say this picture doesn't look as good as what this camera can do. It's just one of the only decent picture I have of my 2 dogs together. hehe

I used a family member's Canon (can't remember which one it was) before and it was good, but I personally prefer my Nikon. At the end of day though, when it comes to DSLR cameras, they can all take pretty decent pictures imo.

It's just one of those things - you either prefer one or the other, and I haven't met many people who like both (like, as in want to own one - I "like" both in the sense that I know they both take good pictures, but I prefer to own a Canon DSLR, although I do prefer Nikon when it comes to P&S).

And it IS a nice pic of the dogs. Sure, there are some details that could be better as you pointed out, but I'd still be proud of that pic - it's adorable!

We've been using our iPhone 5s and recently bought a Nikon 5300 DSLR.
However... after using the DSLR for a month or two, we've realized that a DSLR is a bit much for us.
They take awesome photos if you know what you're doing, though, which I don't.

We've been using our iPhone again and since we've mostly been taking videos will next be giving the Sony HDR-PJ810 a try as soon as it's released a couple weeks.

One thing that will help is some good lightning. Almost all our photo and videos were too dark/grainy so I've since purchase a couple full spectrum bubls. They are huge lights, but really helps with the lightning.

Butbutbutbut..!!! one of the BEST parts about new tech toys is figuring out how they work! I have no idea how to work a DSLR either, despite having handled one a couple of times, but learning is so much fun! At least, I think so. But I understand if you feel like it's like shooting sparrows with a canon, as we say in Denmark (ie if having a DSLR is more than you need/overdoing it). I just loooooove figuring things like this out, and rarely even read the manuals that come with new tech toys unless I've gotten completely stuck and have given up trying to figure it out on my own.
