Default Quiet

It's been pretty quiet around here.
Part of me wishes I was part of this forum when it was in it's "prime time" lol

Me too Ari. Used to have 8-10 posts a day!

It snowed today!! Very cold for this time of year. The wind was so bad, I thought our trees might break. None of them did, at least here. The dogs really don't like it that windy. "stuff' kept hitting the windows! Mostly just big leaves. Emmie the older of the two chi's is the most bothered. Even my siamese cat Jazz wanted to be in my lap. She usually comes and sits when the dogs are in their pens for the night! Emmie really gets jealous. Today Em managed to climb over me and get to 'her' spot without the cat moving. She 'spit' at her, but didn't move! This cat is 14 and terrorized Emmie when she was a puppy. Soooooo Em doesn't have much love for her!

Em has known her since she was a pup and they still don't really like each other? My dogs don't tolerate cats at all so never happening in this house but you'd think they'd be a bit friendlier to each other.

My dogs also hate when it's "noisy" outside. Although we live in AZ so the worst I guess isn't as bad as other states. But we did get very hard rain not too long ago and our backyard was all water. The dogs hated it (so did I) but they're not pad trained. The 1st morning I took Buddy Bear out it was pouring and I swear he gave me a face of 'oh heck no' So he refused (surprising the other 2 boys went) Sunshine was having none of it 'how dare her paws get wet' So I took them out a couple of times more since I knew they really had to "go"

Thankfully I don't have to worry about rain, wind or snow. My dogs are inside dogs now. It is too dangerous for me to walk them on the uneven lawn outside. They could go out with an extension leash, but for the most part they are happy to stay warm and dry! They are great little dogs, adjusting to most anything I 'throw' at them!

Susan, my chis are inside dogs as well as they go on the training pads. Tbeir feet only recently touched the ground because my boyfriend insisted. Granted, they do like it, but I don’t want them to get used to going potty outside. Thankfully, after their walk, they joyfully run to their pad and do their business.

I love the fact that chihuahuas are so easy to work with. Mine started life going outside, but after I had fallen (inside) I decided it wasn't safe to walk on uneven ground. They adapted so well, so fast. I do keep the back porch (glassed in) available to watch for squirrels etc. The front door too. I love chihuahuas!

Susan at what age did you start pad training them?
That's good that they are easily adaptable.

Arachne, How old are they? I'm sure they loved walking on the ground.
I'm sure they could do both potty inside and out. But technically I guess they could get a bit "confused"
Lol "after their walk, they joyfully run to their pad and do their business" that's too cute 😉

I started with washable pads in their pens with another one in my bedroom, and one beside/behind the couch. So they were used to pads from the time they were little. I didn't want to get up in the middle of the night! The older chi's taught the new baby the 'ropes' so to speak. Bonnie was the one who didn't catch on for a few weeks, but she was so tiny---barely 2 pounds when I got her. She is almost 4 pounds now. Good as gold about 'going' on the pads now. I used to have a big exercise pen in the backyard but I had to carry them to it. I'm afraid to do that now.
