So back in Sept/Oct, Sammie & Stewie were playing & he snapped at her face, near her eye. Shortly after we noticed a white spot in Sammie's eye. So, we assumed that Stewie bit her. We took her the vet & they did a couple of tests & said they agreed. Got some medicine, everything was good. Well, a couple of weeks ago, we noticed the spot was worse & there was one in the other eye. Took her back to the vet, then an eye specialist this morning. Turns out she has corneal dystrophy.
They did bloodwork to find out what caused it. Could be calcium, genetics,or hyperthyroidism. Which if its thyroid, that would be what's caused her dry skin too! We should find out on Monday. We got some more medicine, that we'll probably have to use the rest of her life, to keep it from progressing. It shouldn't affect her eye sight (at least not till she's old), so that's at least good.
So, long story short, I guess Stewie was getting blamed for something he didn't even do! Poor baby!
I'm glad that he didn't bite her eye, but at the same time I wish it was something that simple!
