Default Help.....LOL

OK baby Isabella came home today. Gizmo well I don't know if he's jealous or being protective with her. If I am holding her he wants up, no problem he sits in front of her on my lap..If I get up he barks non stop following me around which then wakes her...argh...
If she cries he barks non stop...I don't know what to think..Any ideas?

I'm sure it's just part of adjusting to this new little "interloper". LOL They do funny things when a new baby is brought in.

Well this morning seems to be alittle better. OK Not really, lol when she cries he has to out do her with barking, He just doesnt like me walking around with her I do let him sit with me if I am feeding her and he sniffs her out. Hopefully as the days go by he will get better. Now at one point when she started to fuss he got up and ran over to her bassinet, I said Gizmo, no (when he started to bark) he did stop..so there is hope lol

I agree with Lin, I think he just needs to adjust. I was going to suggest trying the can of coins bc it always works for us no matter what they're doing, but it's probably too loud for the baby so maybe a squirt bottle? That also works. Stops them dead in their tracks and they're like "huh?" Goodluck! I'm sure with time things will get better

Ohhhhh the ole squirt bottle trick, I totally forgot that one. Yes I am sure it will take abit of time for him to get use to the baby being around..From what I can tell now other than the barking he's doing good..

Yes I think he needs time to adjust, he is just feeling jeleous and cant understand why all of a sudden there is this crying baby taking all his mommies attention from him. I bet in a couple of weeks he will be used to her and even become protected of his new human friend.
Good Luck..... Grandma/Nan

He's so funny! I would imagine that he's just adjusting to the new family member. Has he ever been around babies before? My chis get freaked out over real little kids, as they're hardly ever around any under the age of 5. Its like they don't know what the heck these little things are! Oh, and just wanted to add that she's a cutie...I saw your other thread, but never got around to commenting then!

The squirt bottle is what works for me, but I do know that when we got Ernie, I had to be careful that my scolding Buford, didn't cause him to be jealous. I think some behaviors just have to be ignored when bringing a new one in. It stops with time. I feel like I deprived myself of some joy because I made myself a nervous wreck. Just relax and enjoy. Someone told me they would work their issues out, and they have pretty much.
