Default Greenies

Hi everyone,

Well I have had my new baby alittle over two weeks now & all has been going very well... last Friday I got the famous Greenie & started letting my little Roxie chew on it while we were having cuddle time in my lap. She is only able to get tiny bits off of it... Saturday night she started throwing up & Sunday night I had to get her to the Emergency vet.. it wasn't until Monday morning when I got up with her at 4a.m. that I got to thinking about how smooth everything had been going & what had changed to make my baby so sick? ... I just knew I was going to loose her. Monday morning I took her to my regular vet with the instructions to the Greenie... He didn't say it was exactly the Greenie but has not ruled it out... after two days of IV fluids, antibiotics, & nausea medication & not feeding her for 24 hrs. this morning I feed her 1-tsp. of moisten food, then 2-hrs. later 2 tsps. of food, so far good and hopefully she is on the way to feeling much better. She is so playful & hungry... her tummy has had to get well from the upset before I could let her eat again, my prayers are for her to be well & be able to eat... The Greenie Co. was so helpful & mention the Wheat Gluten could have caused an allergy... I just wanted to share alittle of my story to let everyone else out there know the possibility of a problem with Greenies... the instructions say not to let pups under 6-mos. of age & under 5-lbs. not to have them... Please don't beat me up over this, I have already been hard on myself for not reading the instructions & trusting the local Pet Store for pushing the product... I have shed many tears & just love her so much... I hope this helps someone in the future & please lift Roxie up in your prayers today, she needs to hold down her food & we need to know what the problem has been. If it is caused from the Greenie & her tummy upset has needed the rest to get well, then I have peace... if it isn't the Greenie reaction, then we have to search further... you can also go the the Greenie website to read more :

Thank you for listening & your prayers...

Aww hun! I'm so so so sorry about ur little angel!
I usually give my puppy the "little bits", BUT if it's an allergy even that wouldn't be any better! I know some people that can't even have Wheat Gluten.
I hope so much that she'll be ok soon! It's so hard when something's wrong with a new puppy! Mine had bloody stool for a long time She's much better now but my husband and I were about to go crazy! So we somewhat know what you feel like, but not to the extent of the IV etc
I hope you find out what the problem was and that it's all puppy kisses and fun from now on!

Thank you so much for your reply, today is Thursday & so far this morning things are going good... we are taking it slow in feeding, she is so hungry, but not throwing up this morning... she is playful & potting normally... if she can just not throw up today, that would be FANTASTIC!!! Thank you again & have a great day...

I dont like Greenies. I gave one to Emmi once and she got really sick from it too. Was throwing up and not acting well. After that, I told myself I would never give her something like that again.

Glad to hear your baby is doing better!!!

Hello Everyone,

First of all, thank you so much for replying... Thursday was the best day of all, she only spit up twice, yesterday she had alittle harder of a day & thru the night she was very sick to her stomach. I give her her nausea medication, wait about 30 minutes, then I feed her a 1-tsp. of water moisten food, she is so hungry. My vet told me to then wait 4-6 hrs. before feeding her again.(That seems to be such a long time for such a little one) It's so hard because she has gone from 3-tsp. of food to one... I do feel she is slowly improving... She is playing very well. Also if it was the Greenies, why is it taking so long for her to get well? I am so ready for her to be better. I will be taking her back to the vet next week if all keeps going well. If anyone has any suggestions I would deeply appreciate it... Have a wonderful day everyone
Tricia

I'm so sorry that she's still not better! It's so sad that she can't eat properly yet, but hopefully SOON!

She's such a cute lil gal in her little car
