Default Buttercup

Hi. My girls and I just got a chi. She is our first.
We got her two days ago and I have some questions.
She shakes all the time as well as whines if she can't see me or be near me.
Because she is only weeks should I ignore her or give her what she wants which is usually to cuddle with me.
As well after getting buttercup I read that young children are bad for Chihuahuas. I have a 9 month old.
She has grabbed her once or twice but I'm on top of it as I do know buttercup is sooooo small and fragile.
This is buttercup 😊😊
And as you can see she does like the baby as when we walk and she gets tired she curls up in the stroller

With the shaking and whining, just know that the puppy is very stressed. Give it a couple weeks and it should settle down. I would not encourage you to give in to the whining, but to make sure you have plenty of cuddle time when you can. Teach her now that separation won't kill her, and make sure she has things to do alone. Many of us have used pens with great success. These guys are so tiny, it is good for them to have a potty area available in their safe space, along with safe toys/chews and water.

As a mom who rescued a Chihuahua with s 2-year-old, I can say it can be hard at times. I think it will help that the puppy is growing up with the baby. You may not have the snapping out of surprise/insecurity that we get occasionally, but you have to be careful the kids know not to pick up the dog, and you may have to separate the dog during some kinds of play to keep it safe. It absolutely can be done, and it looks like you are off to a great start, but be aware that after the first few weeks of settling in, things could change. It is all about management and teaching the kids when/where the dog should always be left alone. I started when my daughter was scooting around with my last dog. She knew that the dog bed was off limits, especially if the dog was there. now with this dog, she knows his crate is off-limits (I just use it as a bed he can't drag around!), and to not touch him if he can't see her coming, like when he is under a blanket on my legs. It is a riot!
