Default Hello all :)

Hello everyone I an a newbie to this site and I have a Chihuahua who is a Romanian Rescue Oh do Love her :
We estimate her to be around 4 and I stumbled across this site browsing for possible reasons for her upset tummy. I found numerous threads linked to this site so I decided to join so I could have a good read of the threads in my own time while trying some of the previously explained remedies so i don't create yet more colitis posts!

Just thought I would say Hi

Have you taken her and a stool sample to the vet? Worms can produce diarrhea, as will other germs. Changing food too fast is another reason. Excitement, as well as being moved from a shelter into a home can do it. If the vet says everything is OK, then I'd go with a bland diet. I assume you are from Romania? Can you get a bland diet there? Here's hoping it is just a little upset and nothing bad. Welcome to the forum.

She is booked into the vets first thing in the morning. She has recently been wormed and has been on the same food for some time now. I have had her for just over a year now. I adopted her from a rescue with brings Romanian dogs into the UK, I am in North Yorkshire.
Thank you for your reply and welcome

Please let us know what the vets think. I thought you had just gotten her. Sounds like a longer term problem? How long has she had this intestinal 'problem'?

Sorry my error for not being clearer.
Im unsure what to do. I fed her on normal small adult food last night and she was fine through the night...

She was like it when she first arrived but she has been fine since...

What did the vet think? I'm sure you know not to change foods too fast. I do 1/4 cup 'change' for at least 4 days. If there is no diarrhea/or any other intestinal problem I continue. If there is a problem, I stay with that amount until things are OK, or I decide they can't tolerate that food. I feed only 1/8th of a cup in the am, so that means I have to count out the kibble! They do get a bedtime snack of soft treats.

Im getting a second opinion. The vet eas a stand in vet who didn't seem bothered or knowledgable if i'm honest. He said there seemed to be a little tenderness but nothing seemed out if sorts and because she had a better night (no accidents for 1st time in 4 days) to see how she goes on the standard small breed food as that is what she will be going on to. I refused to pay the consultation fee as i didnt feel it was at all beneficial but i will be going back next week if there is no improvement over the weekend x
