Surgery on toes.
Hello, I am the very protective Mommy of a longhair Chihuahua named Roxy, while we were playing on the bed she lost her balance and fell off and broke all four of her toes all the way through at the place where we wear our rings. Our Vet talked us into just trying to splint the foot and see if it will heal because pinning with surgery doesn't always work and its expensive, well here we are 5 months later with no boney union and now our Vet is talking amputation of the leg. Then today a mobile surgeon that comes to our Vet that specializes in ACL repair said he would just take the splint off and Roxy would eventually adapt if amputation wasn't a option, but when I asked our regular Vet what if we didn't do anything she said she wouldn't use it and continue to hurt herself. I am confused and blown away right now! Conflicting answers from two different vets. Have any of your Chis had to have surgery on toes before? Was is successful? I want my girl to be able to play, run, jump ETC. I have a consultation at a surgical center that has orthopedic surgeons on Wednesday.
