New member introduction
My name is Tim. I recently adopted two adult dogs who formally belonged to my parents, whom I had to place in memory care. My mom made me promise to take care of her "babies," so I had to agree.
One is a Shih Tsu mix and aside from the shock of moving from California to Texas in the summer, she is adapting well and has bonded with my 15 year old daughter.
The other is a Chihuahua mix spayed female named Gordise. For some reason Gordise has bonded to me. She follows me all around then lies and stares at me with her big buggy eyes. She insists on sleeping in bed with my wife and me, usually between my legs. If I put her down in her dog bed (located in our room) she waits about a minute then jumps into bed with us again.
If I call her to me she crawls to me on her belly, then rolls over. I assume she wants to be scratched. When I eat dinner she begs incessantly, even though she has plenty of small breed dog food available.
She is a very loving and loyal dog and I wouldn't think of discipling her harshly, but occasionally my wife and I want privacy. How can I occupy her for about an hour so she won't wine and scratch at our bedroom door?
