Default Puppy training

When I bring home my new pup, I will immediately start crate training her (and to use puppy pads). What would you say is the next best training command with a pup ie to sit, stay, heel, etc? Thanks

Sit is usually a good place to start. Instead of starting with a command, just wait for the pup to sit when it wants something. For example, before feeding or before opening a door. Teaching the name is good too!

I second that. Sit is a natural thing for puppies to do. Get a clicker, or better just say 'yes' when she sits, and give a TINY treat. YES should mean 'you did that right'. I have a little treat in my hand, hold it just a little bit over her nose, and slowly move the treat backwards, so the pup has to sit. As soon as he/her butt hits the ground, say Yes, and treat. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
