Default Help, dog is sick!

I have an 8 month old Chihuahua who is not feeling well. Now, last Tuesday I did bring home a new 10 week old puppy. About 3 days ago my older chihuahua stopped eating for 24 hours and had some diarrhea on just day one of not eating. I did get her to eat a bit and just gave her hard food instead of her normal wet food to try to stop any loose stools, though she has previously been fine on wet food. She started eating again yesterday and only ate her wet food, but this morning she had pooped excessively overnight. Like 3 piles and pooped again while I was cleaning it up. The morning poop looked better and more normal, but she did not eat her breakfast.

I don't think she caught anything from the pup since the pup is not having any issues, but the older chi has been going to petco training classes. Maybe she got something there? She is fully vaccinated though. I'm wondering if maybe the food she is on just no longer agrees with her. I have always fed my dogs Hills Science Diet because that has worked for them (please don't start a big dog food lecture, I'm posting about my dog's sickness not food, everyone can and should feed what their dogs do best on). I have ordered some Canidae food after getting a recommendation from another dog owner and think I will start mixing it in with the older chi's food to see if things improve. Eventually I think I will switch the new pup to it as well though she seems to be doing well on Hills Science Diet.

The thing is, she has not been lethargic and is still active and she and the new pup get along. She has had semi bad gas on ocassion. If she still seems a bit under the weather though I am taking her to see the vet. Any advice is much appreciated on what could be causing this. Like I said, the issues started a few days after bringing the puppy home, not the same day.

Sometimes a puppy will go home with some parasites. Some are protozoans and not visible to the human eye. Coccidia, and giardia are two of them. IF she continues not feeling well, at least bring in a sample of the poop to the vet. Has the new pup had any vet visits? Stool sample tested?

The new pup had a few shots from the breeder's vet and she had her first vet visit with me where she got her first booster shot I think it was. They did take a stool sample and nothing came back. They always call if they find something. My older chi seems to have improved. I offered her some of the new Canidae food and she ate it after refusing her old food and her energy and whole attitude became more upbeat. I fed her lightly since it is a complete switch in food with no transition and I'm waiting to see is how her stool looks next time she poops.

Just to be safe I have scheduled her a vet visit so they can check her out to see if they find anything. Even if she is fine I plan on keeping her on the new food since it seems to agree with her more than the old one.

Maybe you should have tried some rice to see if the tummy would settle.
I hope the dog is doing better now.

My girl dog was strangely vomiting (no pattern) she went to the vet and got anti nausea meds. I changed her food (mom wanted to) I switched her to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Coat (I know) but no problems so far. I might switch her 1 day but for now she's fine.

I'll bet that this 8 month old just had an upset tummy. Period. If she is OK now, then fine. If not, then a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice might help. Changing food when they already have an upset tummy is sometimes not the thing to do. The vets usually say if the dog is vomiting/having diarrhea STOP feeding them anything except water for 4-8 hours. Give the tummy a rest. (a baby chi, needs nutrical or some sugar if you are not feeding it--time for a vet visit) Hope she is better.
