Exclamation Introducing New CHH Puppy to Adult CHH

Hi guys,

I'm new here, I have a 6 year old female CHH.

Recently, my wife and I bought a puppy 2.5 months old female CHH as companion to my first.

We currently have them for 1 week, kept seperated, puppy in crate and only when we are around the puppy are allowed to come out of the crate and play.

However. we had noticed that my adult CHH is always running away from the puppy, and are panting very vigorously after we "rescue" her from the puppy.

It seems to us that puppy just wish to play with the adult, but my adult CHH is too afraid of the puppy.

Can anyone please teach me what to do or is there any guidance to this issue please. I'm afraid that one day my adult CHH might collapse due to stress / over-exercising.

My adult CHH is currently healthy and no noticeable health issues.

Please advise me

Hi, is the adult showing any aggression to the new pup?
Are they actually playing together? Or does the adult run away from the pup the entire time? Your making it sound like the adult doesn't play with the pup at all.
Maybe they should interact a bit more. Have you walked them together than again the pup might not be able to walk out (because of all the shot thing)

I think that Ari has a good idea. Take the two for a walk together. Obviously, they would both be leashed. (harnesses are great) If you keep the pup in a crate a lot, the adult will not be able to interact safely. I greatly advise a pen that the puppy's bed, food, water, and a few toys are in. I use a crate/carrier in my pens. I cover the floor with human grade pee pads that are washable. I wonder if you held your older dog in your arms and sat on the floor, what she'd do? She couldn't run, and she'd be safe, 'cause she's being held by someone who she trusts. Time will help.

Hello Ari and Susan,

My Adult is not showing any aggression when getting chased by the puppy all over the house. Just constant avoiding and running away from my pup.

When i sit down on the floor, my adult will stick closely to me and sometimes jump on my crossed legs in fear. Its only when adult is near me, then she will dare to show some aggression to the puppy.

I can't bring the puppy out for walk yet, as we are still waiting for 3rd vaccination to be done.. its been a week and there's no sign of improvement between the 2 =(
