Hi, just got my own place and when looking for a dog, saw and add for a free chihuahua mix. Though I’d be getting a 10-15 pound mix but it turned out the owner simply hadn’t heard of deer-headed chihuahuas. So now I have 6 1/2 pounds of adorable. Never had a dog this small before so looking to learn about any special needs they have and anything else I’ll need to properly care for little Rue.
Hi. How old is Rue? Is he a puppy? 61/2 pounds is the weight of a full bred chihuahua at maturity. This is according to the AKC. Many full bred chi's weigh more than this, obviously. Have you ever had a dog before? If you have, you have the knowledge you need. Just remember do everything on a much smaller scale. If you haven't a really good book is Chihuahuas for Dummies. Lots of good ideas and knowledge in it. (not much for the name, but a good book) Good luck and keep in touch.
Thanks for the info. I think, as you said she is a 'deer head' chihuahua. I'm glad she got a good home. Most people want puppies. If I ever get another chi, it will be an adult. any problems, or discussions, we are here.
Hi, I think the deer heads are so cute I love the ears.
Have an Apple head almost 6 mos. old. I love kissing those big ears.
He hates me to put anything over his head. So I can't put a collar or coat on him....yet I keep trying.
