Default Pls help 3 week old chihuahua possibly having seizers

I have a three week old puppy and she is having what I believe to be seizers. She went to the vet when I seen a thick bubbly saliva around her mouth. The vet gave her antibiotics and said she may have a uri. The vet also said that her lungs sound clear. She had a few episodes that night after the meds. I truly thought it was an uri. I thought the thick bubbly saliva was her clearing out a cold. I went and go humidifier and the thing you use to clean out a baby nose and cuddle up with her on the floor and it just kept bothering me. This doesn’t seem right. The best day she had another episode where she is laying still and the bubbles happen again. After she got up and ran around in a circle once again and whines and barks. And two and two made four. I stopped giving her the milk and gave her soft food. She didn’t have another attack until 7:30 that night. At that time I got it on video like my vet said to do and I toke her to the emergency vet. They did a blood test to see if she had low blood sugar and an ultra sound to check and see if there was any visible sign of something wrong with her little brain. So long story short I came up empty there. He proceeded to tell me that I needed a specialist and that it would cost around 2500 dollars to do an mri ,a cat scan and other tests and it still couldn’t tell me what is causing them. He also said that puppies at that age don’t have this issue. She is eating and doing a little better. I just wondering has anyone else has this issue ?

Hello there. First of all welcome to the forum. Next, how did you get this tiny baby? Do you have her mama? If not, she is way too young to be taken away.

With this age, you have to feed this puppy every few hours. Blood sugar issues are really hard to catch sometimes.

I would wait until she grew up a little bit. Keep feeding the soft food every couple of hours, and if she has these 'seizures' give her a little bit of honey, karo syrup or other sugar.

I had a young dog that actually put me in bankrupsy! I had all those tests done, and the neurologist told me she had idiopathic (unknown) epilepsy. She has been on phenobarbital since.

As long as the ultrasound is OK, I'd wait. I assume they ruled out hydrocephalus? That is water on the brain. She would have a really large head plus other symptoms. Good luck.

Does this baby have it's mom?
I would stay by it's side during the night and would wait out before I spent all that money to just see if it has to do with how very young the pup is. And maybe it'll get better as it gets older.
But I don't know much about dogs and seizures.
