I have a senior Chi who I adopted at a Humane Society. She is so precious to me and I treat her like my baby. I hope to meet good people here and get advice about caring for my granbaby 🐵

Bless you for sharing your life and home with a "senior" chi baby..they are awesome and can bring such joy. Our two little old men are 14 and 13 and own our hearts!

Seniors are the best! I'm down to two seniors, but I just saw a 13 year old long hair at the pound last night and I'm so tempted! She's over a hundred miles away which is why I don't have her already. Enjoy your new sweetie!

I feed Pure Balance. No corn, wheat or soy. And it's not that expensive. But any dog food without corn, wheat or soy is best as some chis are very allergic to those ingredients. Not to be an alarmist, but if she is coughing frequently and she's just from the pound, I'd have her checked out for kennel cough or heart problems.

She's been coughing since Dec 2017. Only when she's excited (before I'm about to take her out or when she sees other dogs and starts barking). I've been to several vets and one says bronchitis and another says collapsed trachea. I hate to keep giving her antibiotics and other meds. Her blood work is good and they said her heart sounds ok. If it's trachea she might need surgery.

Your amazing for adopting a senior <3

I feed Jr and Jojo Authority grain free. Jr needs grain free and Jojo does well on out to.
The other two get fed Purina Pro Plan sensitive. Sunshine was having random vomiting and when I switched foods she stopped so I kept her on it.
I've also fed Pure Balance before and I might go back for Jr and Jojo as they seem tired of Authority but not sure yet.

I wonder if your baby has a collapsed trachea.
