Newbie here. I purposely signed up this forum to learn more about this breed. One big question usually pop up into my mind, due to its small size, do chihuahua blend well with the cat? So many thing to learn and sorry if my English is not good or I might ask a noob question.

I want to participate in this forum, ask a question or just some random thoughts, but it feels like the threads are locked and I cannot reply to any post. Maybe I still newbie here and need a proper amount of time before I can post.

Hello welcome to the forum.

I really don't understand your question "does a chi blend in well with a cat?"
Do you mean get along?
If you get them both at a young age it is possible. Or perhaps getting a adult cat that's "open" to the idea of a dog and then getting a puppy.
Do you have a cat now and looking into getting a Chi? (Or vice versa)

Ari asks good questions. Reading your post, I am assuming that you have a cat already? A lot depends----most of all the age of the cat. A kitten and a chihuahua puppy will grow up together. They most likely will be friends. An older cat will have to be watched if you get a puppy. My siamese cat, jumped into the pen holding my 12 week old puppy;, and swatted her. Lucky she does not have front claws. The poor puppy was really upset, and today 10 years later they mostly chose to avoid each other. Never friends, but co-exist.

Thank you for all of the advice and tips, yep I got a cat, thinking about a buddy that is nearly size of the cat, it might be different animal got different behavior. People who does not own any dog yet might need to tolerate and learn about the behaviour. So I am reading forum thread to find good info.

My girl does well with cats. Just be careful so that the kitty doesn't scratch your chi's eyes.

Again, just be careful of the puppy's eyes. Those claws are really sharp. Keep them well trimmed (have the vet show you how) and be sure to have several scratching posts around.
