Default Do you feed your Adult Cat Raw?

Hi, I want to start feeding Lily Raw food. I know it will be hard since she is a picky eater even with treats.

I cave her ZP but she didn't like it. So I ordered a sample for the fish flavour. I put it for her but im still waiting to see if she likes it. i will let you know.
I need to feed her something healthy and the food she is eating is not.

Members here gave me some sites for feeding cats Raw. One of the sites i went to said if feeding an Adult cat Raw who always ate dry food will be hard and that i should put the meat in her dry food at first. I did that last night but she threw up.

Lily is 4 years old
I free feed her dry food (I want to change that)
Her wight is 11.4 lb (She is not over wight or underweight)
In the Raw calculator it says to feed her 2.5 oz for 1 meal.

If anyone here started feeding there adult cats Raw i will need your help step by step instructions please.
Thank you in advance.

I have one cat, Meanie. She is an absolute sweetheart! My first cat, and she is 8 years old. It took me a while to get a food that she will eat. So I change nothing!! She doesn't have fur balls. She only throws up if she eats too much too fast! So I have to feed her small amounts. But I have tried permanent raw, no luck! She wanted no part of it! So, I am sticking with the same old stuff! Lol!

I put ZP All day but she didn't eat it tell 5pm and just a tiny bit. My poor Lily was hungry. So I just put back her old food. And she ate.

Im hopping someone here can advise me on what to do.

Have you tried putting the meat through a grinder? Might be easier to mix in with the regular food.

It sounds like you are moving way too fast.

Step 1 should be to put her on a feeding schedule. Then change her to a wet food (these too can actually be done together most of the time - leave her dry food out and feed her wet 2x per day, and when the dry food is gone, just don't refill it!).

Once she is comfortable with the wet food, THEN start mixing in the raw grind. Take it slow! Remember, no one LIKES the transition from a fatty junk food diet to a healthy balanced one. And her dry food probably tastes like heaven compared to the unflavored meat you're offering. Just don't let her go 48 hours without eating - the starvation method is not recommended for cats, they can get Fatty Liver Disease very quickly!

You can also try mixing the grind with some plain yogurt with probiotics (remember, her stomach acidity is low from digesting plant matter for so long, so she will need to build that back up - the probiotics will help) and giving it to her as a treat.

"the starvation method?" I would never go 48 hours even 24 hours with out feeding my girl. When it got to 5pm thats when i fed her since she ate a little from ZP.

I will feed her 2 times a day wet food. Do i put the dry food and the wet food in deferent bowls or together? Because i don't think she will eat them together.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like it would be hard to transition a cat over. Did you already try cooking the meat a tiny bit to make it smell better? Wonder if you maybe put a bit too much meat in? I'm a member on cat forum. Maybe they would have some better advice for you over there. I think they have a raw section.
