Default Calling all TOTW feeders...

I have been debating switching my chis to Taste of the Wild but am a little unsure about it since it is made by Diamond & they had all those previous recalls. I was feeding Fromm 4 Star & all the chis did great on it but the place I was buying it from has gone way up in price & is now only open for very few hours a few times a week so I wanted something more convienient so I went back to Wellness they did fine on the first bag of wellness super 5 mix small breed but with the 2nd bag they are going nothing but pooping (& during the night eating it!!) Piper & Tader are also shedding like crazy so I did some looking on the internet to find the ingredients have slightly been changed so guess it doesnt work for my chis anymore. So Today I bought a bag of TOTW but now Im questioning if I trust them or if I should just suck it up & make more of an effort to buy Fromm during the new store hours.

My question to all the TOTW feeders is how do your dogs do on it? Do you trust Diamond?

I didn't realize it was made by diamond. We like it so far. Leila has been on it for several months and likewise for finn. They both seem very healthy, coats look great. I can't complain about anything really.

The diamond thing is the only turn off I have to the food. I know that alot of dog foods have had recalls in the past but it just sticks out to me.

That is kind of worrisome. I haven't had any problems though. There are so many dogfoods that have had recalls you could drive yourself insane thinking about it. lol

I no joke was just considering switching ours to totw today, thk is so expensive at the rate we go through it and since I cant buy it local the extra shipping sucks. How much do yoh feed per day? I havent done kibble in a longgg time because of Godrics stomach. oh, and not that I would ever subject my pups to it intentionally, recalls dont petrify me as I work in a drugstore where it is unusual to have a week without recalls. However I will look into their specific info concerning the recalls before making a decision.

I think TOTW is a decent food. For the price, ya can't beat it. It's going to be on my list of recommendations when I rehome Ivy for an affordable, quality option. Ya know, there are risks of recalls with everything.

Young, healthy pets often are not affected by recalled foods, elderly or immunocompromised pets are. You have to decide what you're comfortable with, and go from there.

If money was really tight we would feed a food like TOTW over the other similarly priced alternatives for sure.

Ive decided to give TOTW a try & see how the chis take to it. I really hated taking them off Fromm since they did so good on it but the pet boutique I was getting it from is now charging almost $18 for the grainless beef formula & $16 for the regular 4 star I wouldnt mind paying it had it always been those prices but I started out paying about $13 a bag for the 5 lb sizes so it was quite an increase (Im assuming her store prices went up cause she is now in a larger store than before) Anyway Ive decided to give the food a try so we shall see how it goes. Ive decided that if this one doesnt work out then I will put them back on Fromm & just call & make sure the store is actually open before I make the trip up there since it is a bit out of the way now.

Which variety are you going to try? Also, how much kibble do you offer your pups daily?
