Default New Puppy Not Eating Much - Nervous!

Our new little girl is really hardly interested in eating! She is 3 ish lbs (yes bigger so that is good) at 8 1/2 weeks. She came home on "NOW" but she really doesn't eat much... I have to hand feed her and even then she only eats 8-10 or so kibbles a few times a day. (We have had her now for 4 days) I have tried leaving it out for her, putting it in her kennel with her, soaking it and dry but she doesn't show much interest and will not touch it in the dish or on a plate???? I know she is not a scrawny little thing but still worry that she is not eating much and the risk for hypoglycemia still exists. Doesn't it?
So today I went to the Dog Health Food Store and she sent me home with Pet Fresh Vital and Select. (A fresh cooked refrigerated food in a roll) It actually smelled delicious to be honest! And she wouldn't even try it!
So...I just don't know what to do...I have considered ZP but I worry that the expense will be too much (especially if she won't eat it!) Would have loved to try Stella andChewy but I don' think I can get it here in Canada. So do I keep trying different brands?
Do you think I need to be concerned about hypoglycemia? People keep saying "Oh don't worry, when she is hungry she will eat..."

So, do I give her more time? Or am I at risk for hypoglycemia? How much does she need to eat to be outta the woods for hypoglycemia?
I wonder if ziwipeak offers samples? Maybe I'll call the store....
I found a "treat" she actually likes - it's the Wellness puppy treats kinda a jerky like consistency treat. Isn't Ziwipeak similar - maybe she would like that.

Welcome!

Mine didn't eat much at first either. I got very nervous also. He is now 1 year old and a healthy, large, but healthy, 9 pounds! And always looking for food. It takes them a while to adjust. Also, if you think about the size of their tummys, eating 9 pieces at a time, is probably good!

I don't feed it, but I am able to buy trial sizes of ZP at some locat independent pet stores.

Thanks Angel - Well perhaps she's getting enough...hopefully she will come around - in the meantime I will go back and see if I can get any other samples (maybe ziwi). Checked out S&P and can't get it up her in Canada Dang! (She's actually eaten even less today - maybe she will make up for it with a big supper?)
She is such a sweetheart though - we are sure loving her!

Angel I would love to see some pics of your little guy! Trying to figure out what an 8lb chihuahua looks like since she will likely be around 8 pounds ish.

To avoid hypoglycemia you can feed him either Nutrical (from a pet supply store) or just some water with a good amount of honey or sugar in it - you can syringe this into his mouth if he won't drink it.

Pups can take a while to eat once in new surroundings so just give him time and try a few different foods to see what he prefers.

Same problem with our pup, and he even turns his nose up at ZP (after I ordered 6 bags of it, I was so sure he would love it).

He'll eat kibble if I mix a spoon of friskies pate canned cat food in it. I tried this under my vets recommendation.

How long have you had her? It can take a pup a while to settle into a new home. It has been my experience that it helps them to be fed at routine times. And I wouldn't keep changing foods to try to tempt her. Just keep giving it to her. She will give in and eat.
