Default Cost of Stella & Chewys?

Is stella and chewys way more expensive than ZP or did I read the label wrong?

I keep ZP around for when we are traveling (I feed raw mostly) but I thought the patties would be a little more convenient for camping because I wouldn't have to measure and such, but it seems like they are WAY more expensive. According to the bag my chi would need 3.5 patties a day? Is that correct? She weighs 6lbs. That seems like a lot of food to me.

Can anyone who feeds both tell me if I am nuts here? At the store I was at the 16os stella and chewies was about the same price as the 2.2 lb ZP. As far as I can tell I would get 9 meals out of the S&C and 23 out of the ZP. Just looking for confirmation here.

Thanks!
Sincerely,
The math impaired confused lady

Stella and Chewys is waaaaaay less expensive to feed than ZP, but only if you buy the frozen patties! The freeze dried are twice the price for the same amount of food as the frozen patties. I pay $29 for the 2.2 lb bag of ZP, and $14.95 for a 3.1 lb bag of S&C. I feed three chis, ranging from 4.25 lbs to 5.5 lbs and feed them each 1.5-2 patties a day. I wouldn't think youd need to feed more than 2/day to your girl. I've started buying ZP for Miley bc she just would not gain weight on Stella and Chewys no matter how much I fed her, so she gets about 1/2 each day plus ZP. Feeding miley mostly ZP, I feed four patties a day and the bag lasts me 8 days. Hope that helps!

I am only buying it because I wanted something dry and light for traveling, so buying the frozen would not help me much. If I wanted to carry frozen raw meat I would just carry the stuff I make!

You think though 2 patties would make more sense than 3.5 though? The dried compares to frozen that way?

I might try it anyway because we are not talking about using it all the time, the price difference just shocked me.

I think you might actually find the freeze dried to be less convenient than the ZP. The duck duck goose variety of freeze dried is pretty soft and crumbly, but the other varieties are like little hockey pucks when dry. I mix frozen or freeze dried with water and mash them up until they look like canned food, but the freeze dried ones (except duck/goose) have to soak for about 15 minutes to get a fork in them. You could crumble up the duck duck goose on the go more easily, but I think scooping out some ZP would still be easier. Two patties/day would be plenty for her, especially if it wouldn't be her main diet.
