Default Which Acana flavor is best?

So, I was going to feed our future puppy (waiting on a phone call tonight or tomorrow to see if we get the girl we asked about two days ago!) Taste of the Wild until I heard about the recent situation with the Diamond plant... Makes me uneasy about feeding a food from the same plant where another brand was just recalled. TOTW is the only good food we have available locally, though, so my only option now is to order online.

I finally found some Swedish websites that stock Acana! It's about $38 including shipping for a 5.5lb bag, while the Taste of the Wild we have at the pet store here is $30 for a 5.5lb bag. The only difference I'm paying for the Acana is the shipping really, so I figure it's a good deal. However, which flavor have you had most success with with your Chis? I notice there's even a puppy formula available. Should I go with that or should I just use one of the all life stages formulas? I have no idea which would be best or which has had most success with your Chis, so I would love to hear your reviews.

And by the way, would you all consider Acana to be a better or at least equally as good food as Taste of the Wild? I've heard so much positive feedback about TOTW, I'm just worried about this recent scare that Diamond has had. If you guys think it's safe to still feed TOTW, I would like to, but I'd rather not chance my puppy's health over having to pay a little extra and ordering something online.

Thanks in advance!

My girl hasn't had kibble in quite a while so I'm not familiar with their puppy formula. I used to feed the Acana Grasslands and she LOVED it. That was her favorite kind and she's quite picky.

As for quality, I would definitely go with Acana over TOTW. I personally do NOT trust their company. The amount of recalls is a little ridiculous. A very long time ago, I did try TOTW for my dog and cat but both hated it lol. Couldn't even get them to try it, they sniffed and walked away. Which I'm glad the brand didn't work out after doing my research.

Thanks so much for the reply, Marie! That's great to hear. So Diamond has had many recalls in the past too? If that's the case, I'll definitely go with Acana. I want my girl to be safe!

Oh, I actually just noticed the puppy formula has oatmeal, and I'm only interested in grain free kibble. So it's just between the Ranchlands, Grasslands, Wild Prairie, and Pacifica.

Well, I went ahead and ordered Grasslands because I'm impatient, lol. I figured lamb and fish should be a safe option for potential digestion sensitivity or allergies. I also ordered two 400g sample sizes of Ranchlands, which is beef, lamb, and bison. I think this is a newer grain free flavor for Acana. I didn't want to order a full bag of it though in case the puppy has any allergies or problems digesting beef.

Pacifica is what my rescues eat and all thrive on.
I definitely think Acana is the best kibble on the market, I don't trust other
brands because so far this is the only one that has worked well for all dogs
no matter what issues they had. Just keep in mind that since it is high in
protein you do not need to feed a lot. Of course during puppy days yes,
but watch the amounts carefully starting at about 6 months, because it
is easy to gain weight on this food if fed too much or if your dog is not
active enough.

So do you know when you will be getting your pup?

Perhaps I will try the Pacifica with my next order then. I'm so happy I was able to find Acana from a Swedish website. My order should be in today or early next week.

Still no news on when we'll be getting our puppy. We're still looking every day. Just waiting to find the perfect girl that I can afford. There have been some here and there that I guess we could have gotten, but they have not been exactly what I'm looking for. I'm waiting to see a puppy that I know in my heart is supposed to be mine.

acana is the best thing ever! LOL we have tried all flavours and for mine (who love chicken :P) the best is chicken and burbank potato! they LOVE it! but i would suggest trying all flavours to see what she finds best as all dogs like different things! good luck! x
