Default Frustrated.

I'm getting frustrated with feeding Daisy.

She came to me on Royal Canin. She sort of ate it.

Then I switched her to Acana. She's had better stools and is relatively tear stain free. But it's almost impossible to get her to eat it.

I was getting fed up with her not eating it. So (I'm ashamed to say) I tried her on Royal Canin Chihuahua out of desperation. And...she liked it!?!? Gah! But after a few days, she was getting bad tear staining, had horrendous smelling stools, and a serious case of butt-problems. She was constantly licking it and getting frustrated, so I'm back to battling with her to eat the Acana.

I've tried Ziwipeak. She won't eat it.

What would you guys suggest feeding - please? x

Oh. I forgot to say, I think some of the problem is the kibbles in Acana are really hard and quite large. But she won't eat them if softened with water.
The Royal Canin was smaller and looked MUCH easier for her to eat.

Would you be willing to try one of the frozen raw foods like Vital Essentials or Primal?

If you want to stick to kibble, maybe Orijen, Fromm or Wysong, if she won't eat the Acana? Or you could try mixing a little Acana wet food in with the dry and see if that helps her eat.

You could mix raw chicken pieces in or if you don't like raw, cook up a batch of chicken, cut in tiny pieces & mix a few in with the kibble each time you feed. Mix good to get the flavoring through out. If Daisy's your only chi, I would just leave the kibble down for her to eat when she's ready. Are you sure her anal glands don't need to be squeezed?

Have you tried The Honest Kitchen? It's dehydrated. I give Angel the Embark formula. He really likes it.

And there's Stella & Chewys. I bought some for my cat. She loves it!

She won't eat Orijen either Dx what are the kibbles like for the other brands? Maybe I will try getting canned Acana for her.

I already add cooked chicken, but she just picks out the chicken :/ nope, she stopped licking her butt as soon as I stopped feeding her the RC, so i assumed she didn't have anal gland problems?

What are the kibbles like for these brands? I think I need to get her something small and easily crunched.

The Honest Kitchen and Stella & Chewys are not kibbles, they are dehydrate (THK) or premade (S&C) raw. I know you are in the UK and good foods are hard to come by but I'd recommend a food like Ziwipeak, air dried raw. I had a picky eater on kibble. On ZP he's better. And it's better for them. You can buy it on Amazon. There are several UK members that feed it.
