Default R.I.P Mojo and Shane

Hello all! It has been quite some time since I've posted on Chihuahua-People, about a year. For the past year Ote was living wtih her "dad", Shane. In this past year, a lot has happened. Many of you know of my sweet pug-bulldog mix, Mojo. He passed from genetic health issues in May of 2014. That was a very difficult time for us all. On October 17th, I got a call that Shane - my high school sweetheart and Ote's dad (*human dad*) - passed away in a tragic car accident. We have been heartbroken. Ote is now back to living with me, and her world has been flipped upside down. I am wondering if you all have any tips on how to help a dog deal with the death of an owner. I do not want her to think that he has abandonded her by any means. She was the light of his life, he absolutely adored her. Any tips, prayers or good vibes will be accepted and appreciated

I am so sorry for such hard losses you and Ote have had in such a short period of time. All I can suggest is to love her and let her know you're there for her too.

I'm so sorry for your loss.so very sad.I was reading a dogs book last night and it was all about the loss of an owner and the dog was grieving so much. She let the dog sleep on some clothing of the owner who died and the dog felt comfort from this, and the next day looked brighter, after a while she took the clothing away and put some of hers.Maybe this would help

I'm so sorry about your losses. How is Ote coping? Is she eating? Playing? I think that your loss might be influencing hers? It is hard. I wouldn't worry too much about her if she is acting fairly normally.

Wow, I'm so sorry. I hope that you're both able to find peace and that some here might have some advice for you.
