My beautiful Kippers
My Kippers has been my companion for 15 years. She was a service dog for my son who since passed away, and has constantly been by my side. I owe her so much, I guess you could say as a rescue dog, she helped rescue me and thousands of other shelter dogs.
Those of you that see us here know we invented the Piddle Place for Kippers when I was working in the hospital Emergency Department and could not always be home to walk her. The company took off two years ago, and profits from sales go to many different shelters. Thank you my Kippers for the idea.
A few months ago Kippers started feeling the stress of a 15 year old dog. She started falling often, is off her food quite a bit, and now is taking a few different medications. A few times in the last month she has tried to stand, and her feet just splay out in four directions, and she cries. When this happens, I lay on the floor with her crying myself and we spend the night like this. I mention this again, as each time this happens, I take her to my Vet with prayers of a miracle for my dearest friend. Again the Vet told me I need to consider letting her go. She does not appear in pain, she sleeps 23 hours a day, but her bouts of falling and not being able to stand are becoming more often.
I ask your prayers here as I search for the unselfish thing to do for Kippers. As I read your thoughts on this forum, I feel your pain, and know I will soon join you. I thank you all for the kind support and wisdom on how to let go.
Kathy and Kippers.
