I'm so sorry <3 Already talked to you via PM but there's no harm in saying it again.
I have guinea pigs and they are great! But you need at least two because they are sociable animals.
Rabbits are great too, but are expensive to keep.

I'm so sorry Shannon. 20 months is a fair age for a hamster.
Definitely think about guinea pigs (you need at least a pair, they are very social.) They make wonderful pets and live for 4-8 years. They are very cuddly once tamed, never bite, and have a charming range of vocalisations. One of the few small pets that can actually talk to you. They come in a huge range of coats and colours, and can live either indoors or outside. (Although they will prefer to be in a shed or similar during the winter.)
If you do decide to get some, don't buy from pet shops (especially not Pets at Home!) unless they buy from local breeders. A lot of places buy from Breeding centres (often abroad) which are basically the same as puppy farms, but for rodents.
There are 2 cavy clubs that hold shows in Cornwall, one might be close to you......A cavy show is a great place to buy healthy, well bred piggies at a fraction of the cost of pet shops.

True, but I know the rescues near me charge around 30 for a cavy, roughly the same as pet shops. I sell my baby pigs for between 10 and 14 and can guarantee they come from sound lines and have been bred for health, temperament and longevity.
Not that I am trying to talk anyone out of rescuing, we just don't get a lot of cavies in rescues here.
