Default DO You Tell Your Vet You Feed Raw

Hi, I was thinking of not telling him when we go to the vet.

I know what his going to say so why bother. But at the same time i want to know if he approves or not. So Im going to ask him about his thought on Raw.

If he likes the idea i will tell him i feed Raw but if he doesn't than i wont say anything. Is that weird?

i told mine that i feed freeze dried raw, got the lecture on it and was told as long as the dog thrives on it then feed it to her. their big concern is if it meets all nutrional values.

I know what you mean, I never told my vet when I switched to a raw diet for Coco. She's obviously paid to support Science Diet and kept trying to push us towards it. She even gave us a free bag when we signed up with them and said to NEVER give Coco any food meant for human consumption.

I know I would have had a lecture if I told her and I wouldn't have known what to say so I didn't bother.

Our vet is usually quite good for alternative remedies/food etc. Our horse has cushings and we are going down a holistic route rather than medicine and she is very supportive of it. I think it depends on your vet.

My vet told us to give our dog kibble only...he suggested HILLS! That, I did not do. I give her raw on occasion simply because we cant afford to do it every day. She does eat kibble but not Hills! He said that other foods cause worms and in generally various digestive problems. I just smiled and said "yes, yes" and he never asked me what she eats now anyway.

Our vet also thinks that I should mate Kalisee with his own chihuahua. He says she is coming to the best age and that she should mate. Yeah right!! I am the one that lectured him on that topic!! I cannot find another vet around here...So to answer your questions, yes, I do keep some things from him but not to avoid the lecture, but because I do not agree with his nutrition advice (among other things).

Thats so great. My vet is good even tho he most probably wont agree with Raw food. But as long as he takes care of my pets thats all that matters to me.

When i was looking for a back up vet because my back up left. I started going thro all the vet near by and I met a vet when he saw Chico told me he would help me find a good Chi for chico to mate with. I told him he was fix and he told me why its a shame. hehe He is the only vet i met that support breeding. And he does not agree with Raw food. I asked.
