Default How often?

Ella was raised in a home that never gave her anything to chew on. So, we have been experimenting with just about everything under the sun to try to get her to chew on something. It's like she doesn't understand the concept. The only thing I've gotten her to successfully chew was raw chicken wings. So, I think I'm just going to give her chicken wings on a regular basis for dental health. How often can I give her a chicken wing since it has a lot of bone? I don't want to give too much and make her constipated, but I want to give it to her as often as possible for her teeth.

I have never fed kibble and raw together, but for fully raw fed dogs I give a bone two or three times a week max. Watch her poo, if it gets too firm after a wing then you know that is too much bone in one go. You can cut chicken wings into three sections and feed separately, a whole wing is a lot of bone and quite a big meal (depending on the size of the wing obviously) for a Chi.

Thanks, Stella! I usually buy the wings that are cut into smaller pieces. Like the size of wings that we would eat when we eat hot wings. (Do y'all eat hot wings in the UK? Is that a silly question?) they're like 2-3 ounces. I'll keep an eye on her stool, but I'm thinking I'll do it once or twice a week. We don't have any trouble with her gaining weight. So, I worry more amount the bone content instead of the amount of meat. It may be good for her to give her a bigger meal once or twice a week to help her keep weight on. She's gone from 3.6 pounds to 3.1 pounds since coming to live with us. She seems a healthy weight, but were going to have to work to keep her a good size. She also had never exercised before. So I think that had a lot to do with it.

Yes we have hot wings in the UK
I do think our chickens are generally a lot smaller than the American ones though, in the supermarkets they are around 1.35 kg for an average sized whole bird. I get the impression yours are larger.
I will let mine have a whole wing from time to time as they are all on the slim side, they tend to leave a little bone if it is too much in one go. They are all experienced raw eaters though, and seem to know what they need.
My girls hadn't been exercised before they came to us. It took a while to build up some muscle. Now they are fit they keep weight on much better, although Mouse will always be skinny I think, it is just her build. (She eats as much as the other two, despite weighing over a pound less.)
So just keep an eye on what comes out, and go from there.

Some dogs just don't like to chew things. My chi has never been a chewer, but now she'd chew on a chicken wing (what dog wouldn't). I've bought her expensive chews like bully sticks, tripe chews, etc and she don't want nothing to do with them. I brush her teeth.
