Unhappy A little worried about my puppy.

So I have posted a couple times on here about my little puppy who I put on raw last week.
I am having a couple problems with changing him to raw.

I am feeding him Chicken Breast and then Chicken thighs for the bone as well as Kidney and Liver.
But my Mum (who was the one who took him out to the potty the last time he pooped) said that he had diarrhea but looked like he was straining, there was also blood in the poop. Joey also rubs his butt on the ground a lot, I have never had a dog do that before, he was doing it when we got him but he started doing it more after we put him on raw.

I read Are you considering a raw diet? three times and I am following ~Kat's "Prey Model Raw" Cheat Sheet~ but I am still very confused about this whole raw stuff.

Is there something I am doing wrong??? Or is Joey just going through a Detox period??? He looks healthy and has a lot of energy but it is just the pooping problem that I am really concerned about.

Sorry about having so many questions!!! I feel dumb not knowing the answers to them!

You need to go quite slowly with some dogs. How long has he been on raw, what has he tolerated so far? I feed just chicken for the first week, then introduce each new protein one at a time. I don't add any organ meats (liver/kidney etc) for the first month or so, untilk the dog is doing well on raw.
How old is your puppy? If you are new to raw feeding it might be best to stick to a pre-made raw such as Nutriment while he is young.

I would stick with pre-made frozen or freeze dried. I also would wonder about worms with the butt scooting. Have you taken in a specimen? Hookworms sometimes cause blood. I am not against raw, but bones scare me.

Thanks you guys!

Wicked Pixie So not feeding organ's for the first month doesn't cause any problems? I've never heard that before. He is 10 weeks old now. I am wondering if I should go back to feeding Now puppy kibble but I really want him to stay on raw. His poop looked fine last night.

susan davis I never thought about worms! I will find out if he has them or not.
Yeah bones scare me to! Last night when I gave him a bone I wasn't going anywhere till he was done! Wouldn't even take my eyes off of him. But like I said before I really want to keep him on raw.

Once again thanks guys!

Don't go back to kibble! You could try a complete raw diet like Nutriment puppy though, if you are worried about balancing everything yourself.
I would feed softer more easily digested bones to begin with. Chicken thigh bones are quite big for a Chi puppy, they need to adapt to digesting bone if they are used to kibble, so go steady to begin with.
I would stick with more cartilage heavy bones like the ribs and back bone if you can get carcasses (often butchers sell them for soup stock, it is the whole chicken after the legs, wings and breasts have been removed) or small wings which you can section up.
I also used minced chicken with bone included for the puppies, I get mine from the farm shop butcher (they mince it themselves for pets) but most pet shops sell Natures Menu frozen blocks. Bone-in minces are an easy way to fine tune the amount of bone you are feeding.
Remember with raw that it is 'balance over time' he will be fine without organs for the first few weeks.
The scooting/butt rubbing could be worms, impacted anal glands, or he could have just felt dirty after passing a soft stool.
Are you finding any bone shards in his stool?
Just go very slowly, introducing each new thing separately, and watch his poos closely.

Feeding only chicken is not complete enough. Raw beef is the main meat of raw feeders. Constipation can be from too much bone and organs should not be fed every day, maybe only once or twice a week. Premade raw is the easiest to feed as it is a complete diet.
The butt rubbing could be irritation from having diarrhea which is caused by feeding only chicken and possibly too much bone and organs. There is a raw thread that explains in great detail how/what to feed when it comes to raw. Make sure to read through it as it gives a lot of valuable info.

This is only his first week and a half on raw. I have only fed him organs once, and I think I mentioned before that I read all the raw threads on here more then once, as well as lots of threads for bigger dogs.
