Default Is it necessary to freeze?

I have been asked by a raw feeding friend who has big dogs about the necessity of freezing before feeding. She can get lots of fresh game (rabbit, pheasant, pigeon mostly) but doesn't have the space to freeze it all. If she skins and guts it, is it safe to feed without freezing first?
I can't find a definitive answer, and if I get given a fresh rabbit I always freeze it as it will make a lot of Chi sized meals.
I am mainly thinking tapeworms could be present in the flesh, are they likely/common in these types of game and does freezing definitely kill them if they are?

Do you know any butchers? They might be able to answer this.

I would advise freezing any kind of wild meat for at least 30 days. That's just me though, I'm extra careful. Worms weird me out.

Thanks, both of you. I always freeze too, so have never really looked into what could happen if you don't.

I have fed locally grown animals without freezing, but I know the guy who keeps the goats and see the herd from time to time. They have regular vet care and I am not very worried. We feed it right off the table after I butcher it and never had a problem. I do the same thing with the beef I get that is local, but that stuff is like ultra high end, for human consumption stuff and I eat it very rare without freezing too, so I figure we are both taking the risk there! I get pork from a local lady that I have never seen the farm of, and I know she is not really a pork farmer so nothing is inspected or anything. i freeze that, but maybe one day I will see the farm and feel differently.

Game I have always gotten frozen already, so I never really had to think about it. I probably would freeze it though. I would be interested to see any actual evidence about freezing meat first- it all seems so unscientific- yet it does make logical sense to me. I guess I am like everyone else- just shooting in the dark and trusting my instinct with the freezing/not freezing thing!
