Smile Calling Brodysmom!

Hello everyone! I've been lurking on the forum for quite some time and have decided to start my girl on PMR. I have read all of your wonderful, informative posts on the subject - thank you for providing this information to everyone! I've also done lots of other reading - I know to start slow with only bone-heavy chicken meals and all that good stuff. Brodysmom - I noticed your profile says you lived in Wichita for 26 years. I live here now and was wondering if you had any meat/organ suppliers you'd recommend? The most daunting part of PMR for me is finding a reliable organ supplier. I also know of websites like hare-today, but would like to find someplace local - here in the middle of beef country, you wouldn't think it'd be too hard! Anyways, thank you for your time! =)

HI~! Glad I saw this. I still check in now and then. There are a lot of wonderful helpful people here who can help you with raw feeding as well.

I always got my cornish hens at Walmart. I like the 16 ounce ones as you can whack into about 8 chunks of meat/bone and dole those out a couple times a week for your bone in meals. Then fill in the rest with red meats and I do organs on the weekend, just so its easy for me to remember. I do calf and beef liver (again from Walmart) and I was lucky to have hunter friends who gave me venison meat, heart, and kidney. There's also several bison farms in KS where you can get organs. But definitely check with hunters and see if they will save organs for you.

Check the ethnic markets. There's a TON of them in Wichita. Lots of them have a wonderful assortment of organs and also meat. There are several at Pawnee/Hillside that are good. Sometimes the organs are in the freezer. I found pork kidneys there several times.

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask for help! Everyone here is so nice and helpful.

Awesome! I will definitely have to check those out. I got some nice beef heart and liver from a butcher, so I'd still like to find some kidneys. Thank you so much! <3

Just scored beef kidney from a butcher for 40 cents per pound! After processing it, I found that I have enough kidney to last for 30 weeks, and I paid less than 2 dollars!
