Default Please help! Can one puppy be allergic to chicken??

Hi all,
I have 2 16-week old Chi mixes. Bug and Bean. I started feeding them raw chicken at age 7 weeks. They both were thriving until 3 weeks ago. At age 12 weeks, Bug developed loose stools and diarrhea. I tried treating the diarrhea w Slippery Elm, probiotics and "RunniPoo" but kept his raw chicken meals the same as Bean's. Bean was fine but Bug continued to have loose stools (did a fecal after a week which came back negative.)

I fasted Bug and then put him on a cooked rice/meat baby food/yogurt diet for a week and his poop went back to formed and once a day. I added a small amount of raw chicken to his meals yesterday and he had explosive, projectile (all over walls) diarrhea at 2 am.

Bug can't eat raw chicken for some reason but Bean can? Has anyone experienced a protein issue like this?

Now, I need to find out why or what Bug CAN eat. Is it the chicken (protein source)? Or something else? I am doing research right now but the bottom line is that what is working for Bean is not working for Bug.

I am going to do another 24 hour fast, then back to the rice and baby food but do not know what to introduce back into his system w raw food. He is 5.5 lbs. Also, concerned that the rice/baby food isn't balanced bc he is still a young puppy. Oh, I was also giving him dried beef heart and liver along with the rice diet - and since I dehydrate it at 110 degrees it is "like raw" hopefully with most of the enzymes intact - right?

Advice needed, please. I am looking for a holistic vet who does raw feeding but they are hard to come by...

peace, Maria B

Dogs are individuals, food allergies/intolerances are possible in one pup but not the other. I would avoid chicken for now, and introduce it again gradually at a later date.
I am confused about what you have been feeding them, it reads like you only give them raw chicken. You need to feed a variety of meats to ensure a balanced raw diet. if you have only been feeding chicken introduce another protein source for both pups. I would introduce it slowly, a couple of bites along with their regular meal, then if all is well 50/50 the next day, go back to their usual food for the next meal and if all is still well a whole meal of the new protein next. I would go for a red meat. After a week or so introduce a third protein source. Go slowly, and at any sign of an upset tummy go back to foods you know they can tolerate.

I was feeding them a small variety of meats (chicken, turkey, salmon, ground beef) until Bug got diarrhea the first time (I posted about it here in another thread 2 weeks ago) but I went to chicken only bc of the diarrhea.

I can do ground beef but what kind of bone can I give them? ribs? I can smash a turkey wing up, I guess. I can't get duck for a few weeks. Any other suggestions? Pork chops?

THANKS!!
