This is actually a little bit of a myth. Wolves often leave the stomach and entrails behind, eating the rest of the kill, and when they do eat the stomach and entrails, they rip them open and shake them out, first, removing the majority of the semi-digested plant matter. So, in optimal conditions, wolves (and dogs) eat very little to no fruits and veggies.
However, apparently, my dogs never read the handbook. All of my dogs will eat fruits and veggies. My husky even went so far as to raid my tomato plants this summer!
Carnivores, yes. But also, and foremost... opportunists!
