Default Homemade "Yak" Chews....

Well, after doing as much research as I could I think I've come to the conclusion that those super pricey Himalayan Yak Chews are just dehydrated cheese...

Every description I've found, and ingredient list, is simply "yaks milk, cows milk, lime juice and salt." (aka Cheese) And of course it uses an 'ancient recipe' and drying process that takes a long time. Well fortunately it's 2012 and I have a dehydrator.

So as an experiment, as I was already dehydrating some turkey jerky I tossed in a strip of cheese. Sure enough after a few hours it was getting solid.

I just wondered what everyone's thoughts on this were... as those chews are very expensive and all things considered they seem very simple to make; as there are plenty of different cheese options out there. =D

Tracy, I have been so busy I have not yet had a chance! I will though for sure, I just keep forgetting to get the cheese at the grocery store. =)

I'd be curious how they turn out as well. I only recently learned of the Himalayan chews, but they're pretty expensive, so I'd love to be able to make my own. I don't currently own a dehydrator, but I've been considering getting one for awhile now.
