All raw chicken? Nothing else? How long have they been eating just chicken?

Maybe chicken does not suit your dogs digestive system. You should try another protein source until you find one that suits. Sometimes when feeding the same protein source a dog becomes alergic to it.

I feed venison, lamb, turkey, and chicken alternately to avoid any particular allergies. You should give your dog a variety of protein sources, this should avoid allergies..xx

How much bone are you feeding? Are you feeding the chicken with or without the skin?

I was feeding raw for awhile, with different proteins. Then one day my boyfriend way over feed them and they had the runs for a week. While they had the runs I feed boiled chicken. I started giving ziwipeak and then transitioned back onto raw chicken. It has been about 2 weeks now that they have been in raw chicken. But my little girl has the runs again. I haven't added bone in yet, I was gonna do that tonight. I have a Cornish hen defrosting in the fridge. But not sure what to do now. I just gave my girl cooked chicken for lunch, but gave it raw to my boy. Should I go ahead and feed the Cornish hen tonight? I was also wondering Brodysmom, when you feed Cornish hen, do you let them eat the leg bones, or everything but the leg bone?

They have diarrhea because they aren't eating any bone. They have to eat bone, it is a crucial part of the raw diet, going 2 weeks without it will definitely cause the runs!

Yes go ahead and feed the cornish hen. I whack up a 1 pound hen into about 8 chunks of meat and bone. That would be about 2 ounces per chunk. I'd take the skin/fat off until the runs stop. Give them each a chunk. If you are afraid of the leg bone, smash the chunk with a hammer until its floppy. Brody eats all parts of the cornish hen, no problem. But he chews nicely and is not a gulper. Just make SURE that they get bone with their chicken tonight and don't overfeed. I'd do 2 ounces and that's it.

Feed all the way through the cornish hen and they should be back on track. Then get another one, whack it up and stick in the freezer. Then give one chunk every 3 meals or so...whatever it takes to keep them firm. In between cornish hen chunks, feed red meat ... beef, pork, venison, etc.

You can also buy a tray of chicken wings and cut them in thirds. Feed a chicken wing tip when you see a loose stool. It will firm them right up.
